Pothole Patching
The City purchased a machine, called the Total Patcher, in 2011 that we pull behind a dump truck loaded with 3/8" clean chips.  We invested about $100,000 in the machine including the 3,000 gallon tank that holds the emulsion.  The Total Patcher is used on streets that have potholes, rough patches, and cracks.

However, it's important to remember that this is not a fix, but rather a temporary fix until something more permanent can be done.  The Total Patcher process starts by blowing out the hole / crack to get out all of the debris, then we alternate putting in layers of tar and 3/8" clean chips in the hole / crack until it is filled to the top.  So far, we really like what we see.
