The City of Fairfield Iowa is served by many residents who wish to participate in public service by serving on a board or commission in an area that interests them.  These appointments are made by the Mayor of Fairfield, with concurrence by the Fairfield City Council. 

Below is a listing of the various boards and commissions that exist. 

Member names are omitted as they can change often.

 Planning and Zoning  Concerned with zoning issues.  7 five year positions.
 Board of Adjustment  Concerned with valuation issues. 5 five year positions
 Airport Committee  Administers the Fairfield Municipal Airport and related issues. 5 three year positions.
 Civil Service Commission  Civil Service issues. 3 six year positions.
 Library Board  Governing body for the Fairfield Public Library. 9 six year positions.
 Park & Recreation Board  Governing body for Fairfield Park and Rec. Dept.  5 four year positions.
 Public Access T.V. (FPAC9)  Sets policies and administration for Fairfield Public Access T.V.
5 three year positions
 Logan Apartment Board  Oversees the operations of Logan Apartments.  5 two year positions.
 Historical Museum Board  Guides the policies and development of the Carnegie Historical Museum and related historical associations where the City of Fairfield is concerned.
7 three year positions.
 Tree Enhancement Board  Works to enhance the natural beauty of Fairfield by presenting the Fairfield community with ways to plant trees to enrich the natural environment.
5 three year postions.
 Beautification Commission  Strives to find ways to beautify Fairfield.
 Jobs Committee  To enhance jobs opportunities in Fairfield.
 Reservoir Development Committee  Reservoir development issues.
