City Council - Members

The members of the Fairfield City Council are elected by the voters of Fairfield and serve for four-year terms.  There are Five (5) Wards represented by one council member each, and there are Two (2) At-Large positions as well.

The Fairfield City Council serves to administer and enforce the rules, regulations, policies, and budgets affecting all Fairfield departments and operations.

First Ward

The first ward is represented by  Ron Adam.

I attended grade school in Pleasant Plain, Iowa, graduated from Fairfield High School and had been self employed (Owner / Operator - Auto Electric) in the city of Fairfield for 41 years.  I spent 1958 to 1961 in the U.S. Army stationed in the United States and Germany.  I am now retired and look forward to "Giving Back to the Community".  I have been active in member in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elk's Club, Lion's Club and the Walton Club.  My wife Kay and I have two children, Polly and Peter, both live in the Des Moines area.  I love antique shops. City Council is a challenge, and I love challenges.

The fourth ward is represented by Michael Halley.

Michael has been a Fairfield resident since 1993 after spending his childhood in a small Ohioan town. He attended the local university where he was an active student senator, president of the student sustainability club, and listed in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." At the age of 20 he started his own business here in Fairfield - a green retail store on the town square - which is still thriving today. Michael served as the president of Fairfield's Convention and Visitors Bureau board of directors from 2007-2009 and is an active community volunteer. "My daughter Lily and son Skylar inspire me to help make our country a more peaceful, prosperous, sustainable place to live, and it all starts by taking action locally to make Fairfield a shining example for cities everywhere."

Fifth Ward

 Daryn Hamilton

The fifth ward is represented by Daryn Hamilton.

"In 1988 I moved to Fairfield to work for the Jefferson County Engineer as a Technician. In 1993 I began work for the Iowa DOT as a Right of Way Technician drawing acquisition plats  and writing legal descriptions. In 2001 I was promoted to Senior Engineering Technician as a member of the District Design Staff. My wife Tammy and I have two children, Elizabeth and Michael. A favorite quote is, "The problems that exist in the world today cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them." Albert Einstein.
