The City of Fairfield Public Works Department is a vital part of the Fairfield community.
The Public Works Director oversees the maintenance, upkeep, and construction of all city streets, alleys, and improvements taking place within the right-of-ways within the community. Street cleanings, snow removal, and annual yard & brush pickups are part of the Public Works activities throughout the year.
The department responds to emergencies and citizen complaints on any issues associated with traffic, sidewalks, sewer, or streets. Planning and Zoning issues are handled in Public Works along with site plan reviews and project inspection.
The department also operates a geographic information system that meets the needs of the city and provides information to developers, contractors, and other agencies along with the general public.
Of course, filling potholes and crevices in streets is
an important part of the Public Works Department.
