Mission: Our mission statement is “Water Quality we prize and our environment we will maintain.” We believe in the American Indian motto that “You don’t inherit the land from your father but you borrow the use of the land from your children”
Treatment: The Fairfield plant is a Grade 3 extended aeration oxidation ditch activated sludge treatment facility designed to receive 8.5 million gallons per day wet weather flow to the plant and process 3.2 million gallons maximum through the plant. Two 5 million gallon storm equalization basins are above the plant to temporary store the rain surges. Our normal dry weather flow is about 1.5 million gallons per day. The plant was built in the mid 1960’s as a one unit trickling filter plant. In the mid 1980’s it was upgraded to an oxidation ditch which gives the Fairfield plant the unique snail spiral oxidation ditch. The final clarifier is at the ditch center. Preliminary treatment includes 1” bar screen and drag bucket grit removal. Primary treatment includes a 148,000 gallon 2 cell primary clarifier and two anaerobic digesters. Secondary treatment is two 1 million gallon oxidation ditches. The retention basins have fine bubble diffuser aerators to partially treat the raw sewage pumped there waiting to be returned to the plant for processing. Variable frequency drives and programmable logic controllers are used in plant process.
Tasks: Staffing includes 5 full time positions and one part time position. Our operations include our certified Lab #388 for basic wastewater analysis, sludge processing, wastewater treatment, biosolids treatment and field applications, lift station and plant maintenance, heavy and utility equipment operation, sewer flow monitoring, sewer overflow reporting, sampling with overflow mitigation, grounds and plant housekeeping.
