The City of Fairfield Wastewater Treatment Plant
The City of Fairfield Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) collects wastewater from homes, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities and transports it through a series of pipes known as the collection system to the WWTP.

Wastewater treatment removes harmful organisms and other contaminates from sewage so it can be discharged safely to a receiving stream.

The Fairfield WWTP is a Grade 3 activated sludge oxidation ditch wastewater treatment process. The plant performs the filtration processes that would occur in nature to help remove organic materials. The cleaned water is then returned to the environment via Crow Creek and the biosolids that are generated are stored and applied to designated farmland.
